Costa Farm is a family-owned farm and greenhouse located in Stillwater, MN. As a part of a team at WEDGE, I helped modernize their outdated website, working with a 2 week deadline and a small budget. We built the website with the client in mind, focusing on solutions that allowed them to make basic changes and edit the content themselves. The site features content about the farm, a contact page, a blog, and an e-commerce platform that allows customers to sign up for their CSA produce subscription plan.

Usability:

Each page was wire framed in accordance to a WordPress theme we were working with. One of the problems the client had with the old site was that vital information was hidden in other pages of the site. The new layout featured all of the important information—like the address, events, email list, and contact information—right on the homepage and in the footer.

The client was provided access to a simplified page editor accessible in any web browser that allows them to make basic changes to the site.

The site was developed on the WordPress platform to provide easy-to-use editing and blogging capabilities for the client. All they have to do is log in to a web portal.

The site features a mailing list for customers to receive email newsletters. This is set up with MailChimp, the most user-friendly platform for the client.

In order to allow customers to subscribe to the farm’s CSA program online, we implemented the WooCommerce platform to handle payments. Deposits are sent directly into the client’s bank account.

Email, file management, and spreadsheets of CSA subscriber information are all accessible in a single location with Google Apps.
